"I'm SO excited welcome on board Kristen! This is going to be WONDERful!" Gal Gadot, who plays the titular heroine, wrote in her own Twitter post.

Gadot also played the iconic character in the ensemble picture Justice League, which came out in November 2017.

Set in the 1980s, the Wonder Woman sequel is expected to open in theaters Nov. 1, 2019.
