Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Charlie Kaufman has been tapped to write and direct an adaptation of I'm Thinking of Ending Things for Netflix.

The streaming service announced the project Thursday on Twitter, describing Iain Reid's book as a "nightmarish road trip novel" and Kaufman as "the depressingly hilarious/hilariously depressing force behind Eternal Sunshine, Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Anomalisa, and Synecdoche, New York."

No casting or debut date have been announced yet.
