Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Lion King director Jon Favreau posed with star Donald Glover on Twitter Wednesday, hinting that production on the Disney remake is underway.

"Simba returns!" Favreau captioned the photo which features himself and Glover smiling together.

The caption is a reference to Glover playing main character Simba in the film, which is set to arrive in theaters on July 18, 2019.

Glover will be voicing the adult version of Simba after he grows up in the film as seen in Disney's original 1996 animated feature. JD McCrary will be voicing the younger Simba.

Favreau's Lion King, like his Jungle Book remake, will be a photo-realistic, animated movie.

The star-studded cast also includes James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Beyonce as Nala, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Bill Eichner as Timon, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Alfre Woodard as Sarabi, John Oliver as Zazu, John Kani as Rafiki and Keegan-Michael Key as Kamari, among others.
