Dec. 15 (UPI) -- Stars Christian Bale, Wes Studi and Q'orianka Kilcher, as well as writer-director Scott Cooper, turned out for the premiere of their big-screen western Hostiles in Los Angeles Thursday night.

Co-starring Rosamund Pike, Jesse Plemons, Adam Beach, Rory Cochrane and Ben Foster, the movie is set for limited, theatrical release in the United States Dec. 22. The project reunites Bale and Cooper, who previously collaborated on 2013's Out of the Furnace.

"Set in 1892, Hostiles tells the story of a legendary Army Captain, who after stern resistance, reluctantly agrees to escort a dying Cheyenne war chief and his family back to tribal lands," a synopsis said. "Making the harrowing and perilous journey from Fort Berringer, an isolated Army outpost in New Mexico, to the grasslands of Montana, the former rivals encounter a young widow, whose family was murdered on the plains. Together, they must join forces to overcome the punishing landscape, hostile Comanche and vicious outliers that they encounter along the way."
