Dec. 6 (UPI) -- British actress Helen Mirren is the winner of AARP the Magazine's 2017 Movies for Grownups Career Achievement Award.

The 72-year-old star of The Queen and Gosford Park is scheduled to collect her prize at a Feb. 5 ceremony at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills. The annual event is to be broadcast for the first time on PBS Feb. 23.

"I am greatly honored by this award. I consider film to be a high art form, that informs, inspires, and entertains," Mirren said in a statement Wednesday. "It is the ultimate mirror up to nature. I am very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of that culture, both as performer and audience."

"One of the world's most beloved actresses, Helen Mirren continues to dazzle audiences year after year with remarkable performances," said Myrna Blyth, senior vice president and editorial director for AARP Media. "Ms. Mirren's body of work, woven through film, television and stage, are a benchmark of artistic achievement. We are thrilled to share this special evening that honors Helen Mirren with viewers on PBS Great Performances."

Mirren will also soon be seen in The Leisure Seeker.

Previous winners of the AARP Movies for Grownups Career Achievement Award include Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas, Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon, Sharon Stone, Robert Redford and Robert De Niro.
