The 35-year-old actress will join Channing Tatum in the forthcoming 20th Century Fox movie, according to Deadline.

Variety reported Caplan will play the female lead, although details about her role are being kept under wraps. Tatum stars as Remy LeBeau, aka Gambit, a mutant with the ability to control kinetic energy.

Gambit is written by Josh Zetumer (RoboCop 2014), with Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) as director. The film opens in theaters Feb. 14, 2019.

Gambit was originally to open in October 2016, but has experienced several delays since. X-Men producer Simon Kinberg explained to Slash Film in August 2016 that he and his team are working to perfect the movie.

"I think the truth is when you have these movies that need a very special and unique tone, it takes a little while to find that tone," he said.

Caplan is known for playing Casey Klein on Party Down and Virginia Johnson on Masters of Sex. She will next star in The Disaster Artist with James Franco, and is also slated for Extinction with Michael Pena.
