Turner, who will play Koepcke, is teaming with Lotus Entertainment and Stan & Deliver Films on the project. Perfect Sisters helmer Stan Brooks adapted the script and will direct the new movie.

When I Fell From the Sky tells the true story of Koepcke, the sole survivor of the LANSA Flight 508 plane crash in 1971. The author was 17 when she survived a two-mile fall into the Amazon rainforest and spent 11 days in the jungle before being rescued.

"So so excited to help bring this incredible, inspirational and true story to the screen. Ahhh," Turner tweeted Wednesday.

Turner plays Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones, which has yet to set a premiere date for its eighth and final season on HBO. The actress is also slated to reprise Jean Grey, aka Phoenix, in X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
