Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Focus Features has released the 2 1/2-minute, first trailer for Phantom Thread, the film Daniel Day-Lewis has said will likely be his last.

Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and due in theaters this Christmas, the drama is set in 1950s London and follows Day-Lewis' renowned dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock and his sister Cyril, who is played by Lesley Manville.

"Women come and go through Woodcock's life, providing the confirmed bachelor with inspiration and companionship, until he comes across a young, strong-willed woman, Alma [played Vicky Krieps,] who soon becomes a fixture in his life as his muse and lover. Once controlled and planned, he finds his carefully tailored life disrupted by love," the film's official synopsis said.

Anderson and Day-Lewis previously collaborated on 2007's There Will Be Blood. Day-Lewis, 60, recently announced his retirement from acting. He is the winner of three Best Actor Oscars.
