Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Riz Ahmed may potentially star in Netflix's upcoming film adaptation of William Shakespeare's Hamlet.

Ahmed is in talks to star in the lead role in the film, noted The Hollywood Reporter.

The project is being written by Mike Lesslie who penned another Shakespeare classic for the screen, 2015's Macbeth that starred Michael Fassbender. Jim Wilson is set to produce.

Netflix's latest version of Hamlet will be taking place in modern-day London amongst political and economic uncertainty, Deadline reported.

Ahmed is best known for starring in Star Wars spinoff Rogue One and in HBO's The Night Of which earned him an Emmy for Outstanding Actor in a Limited Series or Movie.

The actor is also set to star in Sony's upcoming Spider-Man spinoff Venom alongside Tom Hardy.
