Jennifer Lawrence, Darren Aronofsky couple up at 'mother!' premiere

Sept. 14 (UPI) -- New couple Jennifer Lawrence and Darren Aronofsky walked the red carpet together this week.

The 27-year-old actress and 48-year-old director attended the New York premiere of their movie mother! Wednesday at Radio City Music Hall.

The event marked the first time Lawrence and Aronofsky have posed for photos as a couple. The actress was all smiles in a white Christian Dior couture ball gown as Aronofksy kept an arm around her waist.

Lawrence said in an interview with People at the premiere that she was "excited" to work with Aronofsky on mother! because the director isn't afraid to push boundaries.

"That's what I've always loved about him. I was such a huge fan of all his work," the star said of the Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan helmer.

"I just think he's so bold and unafraid and that's exactly what I saw," she explained. "That's exactly what I witnessed -- even more so."

Lawrence, who confirmed her relationship with Aronofsky in August, shared similar sentiments about the director while attending a news conference for mother! earlier this week.

"It was an instant 'yes' before I even read anything," the actress recalled of her casting.

"He told me his ideas and I thought that they were just brilliant and unique and challenging. So, I was in immediately," she said. "I've been a fan of his for years. I think he is bold and brave."

mother! co-stars Javier Bardem, Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer, and opens in theaters Friday.
