'Insidious: The Last Key' trailer features the return of Lin Shaye

Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Evil has come home in the first trailer for the next chapter in the Insidious series, Insidious: The Last Key.

The clip, released Tuesday, features franchise star Lin Shaye returning as parapsychologist Dr. Elise Rainier.

Shaye is seen taking on a new haunting in the trailer, taking place inside her family home. The actress is also seen entering deeper into the astral plane known as The Further to end the paranormal threat once and for all.

The Last Key is written by Insidious co-creator Leigh Whannell, who penned the previous Insidious trilogy and directed Chapter 3. The film is being produced by Insidious regulars Jason Blum, Oren Peli and co-creator James Wan.

Directed by series newcomer Adam Robitel, Insidious: The Last Key is set to arrive in theaters on Jan 5, 2018.
