Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Jennifer Lawrence says she's "never confused" with new boyfriend Darren Aronofsky.

The 26-year-old actress opened up in the September issue of Vogue about her relationship with the 48-year-old filmmaker, who directed her in the forthcoming movie Mother!.

"We had energy," Lawrence explained after telling the magazine she started seeing Aronofsky after filming finished. "I had energy for him. I don't know how he felt about me."

"When I saw the movie, I was reminded all over again how brilliant he is," she recalled. "For the past year, I've been dealing with him as just a human."

Lawrence praised Aronofsky as an "amazing father" to his 11-year-old son, Henry, whom she shares with ex-partner Rachel Weisz. She also said the director and Harvard University graduate makes her feel secure.

"I've been in relationships before where I am just confused. And I'm never confused with him," the star shared.

"I normally don't like Harvard people, because they can't go two minutes without mentioning that they went to Harvard," she jokingly added. "He's not like that."

Lawrence and Aronofsky were first linked in fall 2016. E! News reported last week that the couple have discussed their future but are "not in any rush to get married."

"Things are getting serious with them," a source said. "They are so in love with each other."

"Jennifer always cracks jokes and Darren just gets her humor. They laugh all the time!" the insider added.

Mother! co-stars Javier Bardem, Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer, and opens in theaters Sept. 15.
