Netflix releases trailer for Angelina Jolie's 'First They Killed My Father'

Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Netflix has released a new trailer for director Angelina Jolie's upcoming Cambodian drama, First They Killed My Father.

The clip, released Wednesday, features main actress Srey Moch as she and her family struggle to survive the genocide of the Khmer Rogue regime that took place in Cambodia in 1975.

Children receiving military training along with the burning of villages is also shown.

"A daughter of Cambodia remembers so the world may never forget," reads a brief synopsis.

The film is based on the Loung Ung memoir of the same name. The author shares a writing credit with Jolie on the project which is produced by Cambodian documentary filmmaker Rithy Panh.

First They Killed My Father is set to arrive on Netflix on Sept. 15.
