The Hellboy reboot, announced in May by the comic book's creator Mike Mignola, is titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen and is set to begin production in September in the U.K. and Bulgaria, Variety reported.

The film will feature the superhero taking on an evil sorceress who threatens humankind. Director Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game of Thrones) is helming the project with a script by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Mignola.

Previously, director Guillermo del Toro helmed two Hellboy films that starred Ron Perlman in the lead role, 2004's Hellboy and 2008's Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

McShane currently stars on Starz drama American Gods and recently reprised a role on action film John Wick 2.
