Stephen King's 'It': Pennywise haunts children in new trailer

July 27 (UPI) -- Sewer-dwelling clown Pennywise haunts a group of children in the first official trailer for Warner Bros.' new adaptation of Stephen King's It.

The clip, released Thursday, features the small town of Derry, Maine, dealing with a number of strange disappearances.

When Pennywise (Bill Skarsgard) captures young Georgie Denbrough during a rain storm, his older brother Bill Denbrough (Jaeden Lieberher), assembles his group of his friends known as the Losers Club to confront the evil clown.

"When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, a group of young kids are faced with their biggest fears when they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries," reads the synopsis.

Directed by Andres Muschietti, It also stars Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Chosen Jacobs and Sophia Lillis. The film is set to arrive in theaters on Sept. 8.
