'Alien: Covenant' tops North American box office with $36M

May 21 (UPI) -- Alien: Covenant is the No. 1 movie in North America this weekend, earning $36 million in receipts, BoxOfficeMojo.com announced Sunday.

Coming in at No. 2 is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 with $35.1 million, followed by Everything, Everything at No. 3 with $12 million, Snatched at No. 4 with $7.6 million and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul at No. 5 with $7.2 million.

Rounding out the top tier are King Arthur: Legend of the Sword at No. 6 with $6.9 million, The Fate of the Furious at No. 7 with $3.2 million, The Boss Baby at No. 8 with $2.8 million, Beauty and the Beast at No. 9 with $2.4 million and How to be a Latin Lover at No. 10 with $2.2 million.
