Liam Payne: Harry Styles' new music isn't 'something I'd listen to'

May 19 (UPI) -- Liam Payne says Harry Styles' new music isn't something he'd normally listen to.

The 23-year-old One Direction singer confessed in an interview with Music Choice that he isn't a fan of his bandmate's solo single "Sign of the Times."

"Harry's song I heard, and I'll be honest with you, it's not my sort of music," Payne said. "It's not something I'd listen to, but I think he did a great job of doing what he wanted to do. That's the way I'd put it best, I think.

"I think the funny thing is, [Harry] would say the same about me because he doesn't really listen to hip-hop music, where it's like my song's more [like Tyga's] 'Rack City,'" he added. "His song is more of a different era to something I'd listen to, I guess."

Payne, Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson have been exploring their solo careers since putting One Direction on an indefinite hiatus in December 2015. Payne had nothing but praise for Horan in the interview.

"Obviously Niall had 'Slow Hands' out and he had 'This Town,' which is great," he said. "Niall's gone down the singer-songwriter route, which is really cool."

Payne himself released the solo single "Strip That Down" featuring Quavo in May ahead of the birth of his first child. He welcomed son Bear with Cheryl Cole on May 22, and called Cole his "wife" this week in an interview.
