"I am so excited to star in my first movie alongside someone I'm so lucky to call my friend," Lady Gaga, who will use her legal name, Stefani Germanotta, in the film's credits, wrote on Instagram.

"I always wanted to be an actress on the big screen," she shared. "The story of 'A Star is Born' is so special and I'm so grateful to Bradley for making my dream come true. Can't wait for you to meet Ally. She has her first scene in 5...."

Warner Bros. Pictures announced in August that Lady Gaga and Cooper will star in the film, which marks the actor's directorial debut. Lady Gaga will compose and perform new songs for the movie.

"The world is in for a treat as these great artists craft an all-new vision of A Star is Born," creative development and worldwide production president Greg Silverman said at the time.

Production on the remake is officially underway, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Lady Gaga and Cooper will reportedly film a few scenes at Coachella music festival, which the singer headlined Saturday.

A Star is Born follows an aspiring performer and the industry veteran who helps her break into the entertainment industry. The original 1937 film starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March was remade in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason, and in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
