Plot details remain under wraps with Cavill being rumored to portray a right-hand man to the head of Cruise's spy unit, Variety reported.

Director Christopher McQuarrie announced Cavill's involvement Thursday on Instagram writing, "Say, @henrycavill. Had a thought. Curious if you're interested in a role in the 6th installment of Mission: Impossible. No pressure."

The actor then responded to McQuarrie in the comments section writing, "How can I say no to a man with such perfect hair." The exchange ended with the filmmaker referencing Mission: Impossible by replying, "Welcome aboard. Your social media account will self destruct in 5 seconds."
