March 9 (UPI) -- Vin Diesel turns his back on his family in the second trailer for Universal's next entry in the Fast and Furious series, The Fate of the Furious.

The clip, released Thursday, features Diesel attacking his crew consisting of Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges and Nathalie Emmanuel as he teams up with a new villain played by Charlize Theron.

"I know it looks bad, don't give up on him so easy," Rodriguez says before the group heads out to recapture their friend.

What follows is a destructive chase scene as Theron hacks into hundreds of automobiles inside a city in order to fend off the Furious crew and allow Diesel to escape.

Other action scenes involve a prison fight and a car battle involving a submarine on an icy plain in which Johnson physically moves a torpedo on the ground towards an enemy convoy.

"Now that Dom (Diesel) and Letty (Rodriguez) are on their honeymoon and Brian (Paul Walker) and Mia (Jordana Brewster) have retired from the game—and the rest of the crew has been exonerated—the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life," reads the films official synopsis.

"But when a mysterious woman (Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can't seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before."

Directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton), the film also stars Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Scott Eastwood and Helen Mirren.

The Fate of the Furious is set to arrive in theaters April 14.
