Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Hugh Jackman has expressed interest in remaining X-Men hero Wolverine if it meant he could star in an Avengers film.

"If that was on the table when I made my decision, it certainly would have made me pause. That's for sure," the actor said, referencing his decision to leave Wolverine behind following the release of Logan during a new interview with Screen Rant.

"Because I always love the idea of him within that dynamic, with the Hulk obviously, with Iron Man but there's a lot of smarter people with MBAs who can't figure that out [laughter]. You never know," he continued.

The X-Men, whose film rights belong to Fox, have yet to crossover with Disney's Marvel cinematic universe.

Fox recently collaborated with Marvel however in releasing television series Legion on FX which has light connections to the X-Men, opening the door for future collaborations in the future.

Logan which also stars Patrick Stewart as Professor X, features an aged Wolverine fighting to protect a mysterious girl (Dafne Keen) who has powers similar to his own.
