Ricky Gervais' movie 'David Brent: Life on the Road' debuts on Netflix

Feb. 10 (UPI) -- "David Brent: Life on the Road," the movie followup to the original, British version of the TV comedy "The Office," is now streaming in the United States on Netflix.

Written, directed and starring Office creator Ricky Gervais, the film was released in British theaters last year and follows Brent, a former office manager, as he pursues his lifelong dream of becoming a musician.

"#DavidBrent #LifeOnTheRoad is now on @Netflix! Only watch it if you're Rock & Roll thru & thru though, yeah?" Gervais tweeted Friday.

The workplace mockumentary The Office began on the BBC in 2001 and ran for two seasons. A U.S. adaptation starring Steve Carell as Michael Scott, a re-imagining of the David Brent character, ran on NBC for nine seasons 2005-13.
