Chris Evans, Jenny Slate split after nine months of dating

Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Chris Evans and Jenny Slate have reportedly called it quits.

The 35-year-old actor and 34-year-old actress recently split after nine months of dating, with sources telling E! News the breakup was "amicable."

Evans and Slate rang in the new year as a couple, but the actress was noticeably absent Sunday when Evans attended Super Bowl LI with Avengers co-star Jeremy Renner. An insider told Us Weekly the pair split within the last few weeks.

"It was completely amicable and a mutual decision due to conflicting schedules and they remain very close friends," the source said.

Evans and Slate met on the set of the movie Gifted in October 2015, and made their red carpet debut as a couple at the New York premiere of The Secret Life of Pets in June. The actress couldn't help but gush about Evans at the event.

"It's kind of like I got my dream 7th grade boyfriend," she told Entertainment Tonight. "We didn't know each other growing up, but we grew up about half an hour away from each other. We've been friends for a while."

Slate had split from husband Dean Fleischer-Camp in May after less than four years of marriage. She will next star in Landline with Edie Falco, while Evans is slated for Avengers: Infinity War with Scarlett Johansson.
