Watch: 2017 Oscar nominations announced

Jan. 24 (UPI) -- The 89th Academy Awards nominations are being announced Tuesday.

Hollywood luminaries Glenn Close, Brie Larson, Jennifer Hudson, Demian Bichir, Dustin Lance Black, Guillermo del Toro, Marcia Gay Harden, Terrence Howard, Jason Reitman, Gabourey Sidibe and Ken Watanabe will join Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs in announcing nominees in the 24 Oscar categories.

These artists and filmmakers were filmed in six cities around the globe -- Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Toronto, London and Tokyo.

The Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will air live on Feb. 26 at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
