Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Things get bloody in the second trailer for Fox's upcoming X-Men epic, Logan.

The clip, released Thursday, features Jackman as an aged Wolverine as he helps protect an elderly Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and a young, mysterious mutant girl with powers similar to his own.

The iconic clawed hero is forced to unleash his fury once again when he is confronted by the villainous Donald Pierce (Boyd Holbrook) and his highly-armed Reavers who are after the child.

The young girl played by Dafne Keen saves the day by handily defeating the Reavers using her own set of claws and impressive strength.

"She's like you, very much like you," Professor X mentions to Logan following the battle.

Later, Wolverine and the girl are seen working together to take out a group of foes inside a forrest that leaves the titular hero looking banged up.

"In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Logan's attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces," reads the official synopsis.
