LOS ANGELES, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- The official trailer for The Fate of the Furious was released Sunday at a fan event in New York City's Times Square.
The gathering was streamed live on Facebook and the 3-minute trailer was posted on Universal Studios Entertainment's official page with the caption: "Family will be broken. Watch THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS trailer now. #F8 is in theaters April 14."
The clip -- which has already gotten more than 39 million views -- features franchise veterans Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Kurt Russell, Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson.
Oscar-winning actresses Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren, and actor Scott Eastwood have joined the ensemble for the crew's newest, high-octane adventure, which is due in theaters this spring.
The blockbuster series dates back to 2001. This will be the first installment filmed entirely since the 2013 death of the beloved Paul Walker, who starred in six of the movies. Walker was killed in a car crash during a break from making Furious 7, which was released in 2015.
