HOLLYWOOD, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Tom Holland is out to prove he can be a hero in the first trailer for Marvel and Sony's upcoming superhero epic, Spider-Man: Homecoming.
The clip released Thursday, debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and features extensive looks at how Tony Stark/ Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) continues to mentor young Peter Parker as he deals with new high-flying villain the Vulture (Michael Keaton.)
"So to become an Avenger, are there like trials or an interview?" Parker asks Tony Stark following his debut as the iconic wall crawler in Captain America: Civil War.
"Just don't do anything I would do. And definitely don't do anything I wouldn't do. There's a little gray area in there and that's where you operate," Stark replies before he is heard mentioning off camera that he knows Peter wants to "save the world but, you're not ready yet."
Still eager to show his worth, Spider-Man takes on the Vulture who threatens to harm everyone Peter cares about.
The trailer also features the web-head stopping a group of bank robbers using Avengers masks, Peter Parker's high-school best friend Ned Leeds played by Jacob Batalon finding out about his secret identity and a short glimpse at Zendaya's character who is rumored to be starring as love interest Mary Jane Watson.
Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Homecoming arrives in theaters July 7, 2017.
