Chris O'Dowd joins Aaron Sorkin's 'Molly's Game'

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Chris O'Dowd has signed on to star in screenwriter Aaron Sorkin's directorial debut Molly's Game.

Based on the memoir of the same by Molly Bloom, the film follows Molly, an Olympic-class skier who runs high-stakes poker game's until the FBI puts an end to it.

According to Mashable, O'Dowd will be portraying the man who introduces Molly to the Russian mob who begins to take part in the poker games.

O'Dowd joins a star-studded cast that includes Jessica Chastain as Molly and Idris Elba as her lawyer. Jeremy Strong, Bill Camp, Graham Greene, Kevin Costner, Michael Cera, Brian d'Arcy James, J.C. McKenzie and Samantha Isler also star.

"The casting of Jessica and Idris in the two lead roles is any filmmaker's dream come true," Sorkin, known for writing The Social Network and The West Wing said previously of his two leads. "They're two of the greatest actors of their generation, paired for the first time, and their chemistry will be electric."

Following his star-making appearance in Bridesmaids, O'Dowd has appeared in HBO's Family Tree, Girls, Netflix's Mascots and most recently in Tim Burton's Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.
