LOS ANGELES, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Actor and environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio reportedly has a Captain Planet movie in the works. The 41-year-old star and his Appian Way Productions company are pursuing the film with Paramount Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Captain Planet movie would be based on the 1990s television series of the same name created by Ted Turner. The show followed the titular superhero and his five Planeteers as they defended Earth from pollution and other threats.
DiCaprio is reportedly eying Jono Matt and Scream Queens actor Glen Powell to write the script. He and Jennifer Davisson Killoran would produce through Appian Way, which signed a first-look deal with Paramount in March.
"I've had the pleasure of working with Brad [Grey] and the team at Paramount Pictures on numerous projects throughout my career. I cannot think of a better home for Appian Way as we continue our growth," the star said at the time.
"Leo is one of the great talents of our time," Grey, the CEO of Paramount, added. "He is a masterful actor, storyteller and producer, with impeccable taste and skill that has shaped his extraordinary career."
DiCaprio last starred in The Revenant and won his first Academy Award in February for his portrayal of Hugh Glass in the film. He is producing a number of other upcoming projects, including Ben Affleck's new movie Live By Night.
