LOS ANGELES, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Shailene Woodley has expressed her disinterest in a potential Divergent: Ascendant television finale.

"Last I heard they were trying to make it into a television show. I didn't sign up to be in a television show," Woodley said Thursday in an interview with Screen Rant while promoting her upcoming film, Snowden.

"Out of respect to the studio and everyone in involved, they may have changed their mind and may be doing something different, but I'm not necessarily interested in doing a television show," she continued.

The comments come after July reports that studio Lionsgate was looking into moving the final Divergent film Ascendant to television following underwhelming box office numbers for the previous entry, Allegiant.

The plan was reported to help wrap up the current cast's storylines while also introducing new stars to continue on in a series format.

Previously, Woodley spoke of the move stating how surprised she was to hear about the change to television. "I know nothing about it. I know all you know," she said in July. "I need to talk and find out what the details are."

Fellow franchise star Miles Teller shared similar comments citing surprise and confusion stating in August,"When we all signed on for the first one we had every intention of finishing [the series] theatrically. We signed on for x amount of movies and you take that all into consideration ... It's moving into a different format. So who knows?"

Ascendant was previously set to open June 9, 2017.
