Will Smith meets Love, Death and Time in first trailer for 'Collateral Beauty'

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Will Smith meets human versions of Love, Death and Time in the first trailer for Warner Bros. upcoming drama, Collateral Beauty.

The clip released Wednesday, features Smith as a troubled ad man, Howard, who following the death of his daughter is sent into a deep depression.

As his friends played by Edward Norton, Kate Winslet, Michael Pena and Naomie Harris discuss how to get Howard out of his funk, he begins writing letters to Love (Keira Knightley), Death (Helen Mirren) and Time (Jacob Latimore) who then meet him in person.

"We're here to connect," Smith says in the trailer. "Love, time, death. These three things connect every single human being on Earth. We long for love, we wish we had more time and we fear death."

Collateral Beauty directed by David Frankel arrives in theaters Dec. 16.
