BEVERLY HILLS , Calif., Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Netflix released the first trailer for its comedy film Mascots Thursday.

The movie was helmed and co-written by Christopher Guest, the director of Waiting for Guffman and Best in Show.

His next mockumentary stars many members of his regular acting troupe, including Jane Lynch, Parker Posey, Fred Willard, Ed Begley, Jr., Bob Balaban, Chris O'Dowd, Jennifer Coolidge and John Michael Higgins. It also features Christopher Moynihan, Don Lake, Brad Williams, Zach Woods, Matt Griesser, Susan Yeagley, Sarah Baker, Tom Bennett, Kerry Godliman, Bob Balaban, Michael Hitchcock, Maria Blasucci and Jim Piddock.

Mascots will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 10 and will start steaming globally on Netflix Oct. 13.

"This latest film takes place in the ultra-competitive world of sports mascots where they compete for the most prestigious award in their field, the Gold Fluffy," a synopsis said.

Thursday's trailer showed Posey's character talking about her dream of taking home the top prize for her work as hip-hop dancing Alvin the Armadillo, while O'Dowd declares his ice-skating alter-ego The Fist is "the bad boy of sports mascotry."
