LOS ANGELES, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Travis Fimmel, Kate Bosworth, William Fichtner and Forest Whitaker are set to star in the fact-based, heist movie Finding Steve McQueen.

Mark Steven Johnson is to direct the movie, which will feature in supporting roles John Finn, Rhys Coiro and Louis Lombardi. Set in 1972, it follows a gang of thieves from Ohio, who attempt to steal $30 million in illegal contributions and blackmail money from President Richard Nixon's secret fund.

Keith Sharon and Ken Hixon penned the screenplay, and principal photography is to begin next month in Atlanta.

"Aligning a cast of this caliber with a fearless director like Mark has us all excited to see this story come to life. This is an explosive, character-driven film, smartly told in a way that will keep audiences guessing throughout. We're eager to bring this amazing group together and start shooting in just a few weeks," producer Andrea Iervolino said in a statement.

"This is the most amazing script I've ever read; it's hard to believe it's actually a true story. I'm proud and excited to bring it to the screen with such a talented director and a great cast," added producer Silvio Muraglia.
