LOS ANGELES, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- La La Land released a new teaser trailer with Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling on Tuesday.

The preview sees the 27-year-old star sing and dance as the aspiring actress Mia as she falls for Gosling's character, the jazz pianist Sebastian.

La La Land is directed by Whiplash helmer Damien Chazelle and will premiere Aug. 31 at the Venice Film Festival. The movie opens in theaters Dec. 2 and co-stars J.K. Simmons, Finn Wittrock and Rosemarie DeWitt.

"La La Land is a very special film which I am incredibly proud of," Stone said of the musical in April. "It was a joy working with the unbelievably talented Damien Chazelle, and of course working with the wonderful Ryan Gosling."

"Damien made a love letter to L.A. and it truly shows his passion for the city," she added. "La La Land is a love story that comes alive with every dance, gesture and lyric."

Gosling shared similar sentiments in May, telling Collider he "really had a special experience on that movie." The film released a first teaser trailer in July that featured the 35-year-old actor singing.
