NEW YORK, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Irish actor Cillian Murphy says he avoids watching dramatic films or TV shows while he is working, believing they might influence his own performance.

While on the promotion trail for his new World War II movie Anthropoid, the married father of two children told UPI he spent some of his downtime while on location in Czech Republic viewing music documentaries instead of binge-watching trendy TV shows.

"I find it hard to watch film when I am making a film," Murphy explained. "It can inform you both ways. If it's something really good, you can sort of get like, 'Oh, my God, we're not being as good,' or if it is something really [expletive,] you're like, 'Oh, it's going to infect you.' So, I try to avoid it. So, that's why, yeah, we watched documentaries."

"I watched Peaky," confessed Murphy's co-star Jamie Dornan, referring to Murphy's celebrated, television series Peaky Blinders.

The confession was met with an F-bomb and a laugh from Murphy.

Anthropoid is in theaters now.
