'Secret Life of Pets' tops the North American box office for a second weekend

LOS ANGELES, July 17 (UPI) -- The Secret Life of Pets is the No. 1 movie in North America, earning $50.6 million in receipts during its second weekend in release, BoxOfficeMojo.com announced Sunday.

The animated movie features the voice talents of Louis C.K., Kevin Hart and Jenny Slate.

Coming in at No. 2 is Ghostbusters with $46 million, followed by The Legend of Tarzan at No. 3 with $11.1 million, Finding Dory at No. 4 with $11 million and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates at No. 5 with $7.5 million.

Rounding out the top tier are The Purge: Election Year at No. 6 with $6.1 million, Central Intelligence at No. 7 with $5.3 million, The Infiltrator at No. 8 with $5.29 million, The BFG at No. 9 with $3.7 million and Independence Day: Resurgence at No. 10 with $3.5 million.
