LOS ANGELES, June 4 (UPI) -- Actress and filmmaker Elizabeth Banks has confirmed she will not helm the third installment in the Pitch Perfect franchise.
"Though I won't be directing #PitchPerfect3, I'll continue to oversee PP3 as Producer & return as 'GAIL'. Prepare for a very #MerryPitchmas!" Banks tweeted Friday.
No reason was given for her departure from the film, which is set for release Dec. 22, 2017.
Banks co-starred in and produced the first two musical movies in the series, and directed Pitch Perfect 2.
