LOS ANGELES, May 23 (UPI) -- Beauty and the Beast released a first teaser featuring Emma Watson on Monday.

The preview sees the 26-year-old British actress debut as Belle as she arrives at the Beast's (Dan Stevens) castle for the first time and comes across the Enchanted Rose.

Luke Evans will also star as Gaston, with Ewan McGregor as the voice of Lumiere, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth and Josh Gad as LeFou. The movie is directed by Chicago helmer Bill Condon.

Beauty and the Beast is based on the Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont fairytale of the same name, which Disney previously adapted as a 1991 animated film. The studio's new, live-action version will also be a musical.

"The movie's incredible," Gad said on Jenny McCarthy's podcast, Dirty, Sexy, Funny, last week. "Anybody who ever loved Beauty and the Beast ... is gonna love it. It builds on the legacy of the original and takes it to the next level."

Beauty and the Beast opens in theaters March 17, 2017. Watson is best known for playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies and is also slated for The Circle with Tom Hanks and Karen Gillan.
