LOS ANGELES, May 16 (UPI) -- The magical world of Giant Country is explored in the second trailer for director Steven Spielberg's upcoming fantasy film, The BFG, based on the children's book by Roald Dahl.

The clip, released Sunday following the film's Saturday premiere at the 69th annual Cannes International Film Festival, features orphan Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) scared that she will be eaten by a towering giant voiced by Mark Rylance inside his gigantic home.

"You think because I'm a giant that I'm a man-gobbling cannibal?" he asks, smiling.

While showing Sophie around the mystical Giant Country and how he can capture dreams, the BFG (Big Friendly Giant) and the young girl are confronted by fellow giants Bloodbottler (Bill Hader) and Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement), who threaten Sophie's life.

"Sophie's presence in Giant Country has attracted the unwanted attention of the other giants, who have become increasingly more bothersome," read's the film's official synopsis. "Sophie and the BFG soon depart for London to see Queen Victoria (Penelope Wilton) and warn her of the precarious giant situation, but they must first convince the Queen and her maid, Mary (Rebecca Hall), that giants do indeed exist," it continues.

Based on the classic 1982 children's book by Roald Dahl, the film marks the second collaboration for Rylance and Spielberg, who last worked together on 2015's Bridge of Spies, which earned the actor an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

The BFG is Spielberg's directorial debut for Disney and is due out in theaters July 1, 2016.
