Jennifer Lawrence takes charge in final 'X-Men: Apocalypse' trailer

The movie is a sequel to the 2014 film "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

LOS ANGELES, April 25 (UPI) -- X-Men: Apocalypse released an action-packed final trailer on Monday.

The preview sees Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Quicksilver (Evan Peters) and several young mutants take on the ancient villain Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) and his Four Horsemen.

The trailer shows Apocalypse injuring and kidnapping Professor X (James McAvoy) and confirms that Magneto (Michael Fassbender) is Quicksilver's father. A brief glimpse of Wolverine is also shown, confirming Hugh Jackman for the movie.

Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner and Kodi Smit-McPhee also star as Cyclops, Jean Grey and Nightcrawler. Olivia Munn, Alexandra Shipp and Ben Hardy play Psylocke, Storm and Angel, who join Magneto as Apocalypse's horsemen.

X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer returned to helm Apocalypse, which opens in theaters May 27. The preview also gives fans a first glimpse of Lana Condor as Jubilee.
