'Dean,' 'Junction 48' win top awards at Tribeca Film Festival

NEW YORK, April 23 (UPI) -- Dean, a movie written and directed by Demetri Martin, has won the Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature at New York's Tribeca Film Festival.

The prize for Best Actor in a U.S. Narrative Feature Film went to Dominic Rains for The Fixer, while the Best Actress in a U.S. Narrative Feature Film honor was presented to Mackenzie Davis for Always Shine.

Michael Ragen scored the trophy for Best Cinematography for Kicks and Ingrid Jungermann went home with the Best Screenplay accolade for Women Who Kill.

The award for Best International Narrative Feature was given to Junction 48, which was written and directed by Udi Aloni.

Alan Sabbagh earned the title Best Actor in an International Narrative Feature Film for The Tenth Man and Radhika Apte received the honor for Best Actress in an International Narrative Feature Film for Clean Shaven.

The 15-year-old festival was founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff.

"We are proud to celebrate the winning filmmakers, artists, and creators from our 15th edition," Rosenthal said in a statement on the festival's website. "Their stories have entertained, inspired, and challenged us to think about the world and we are grateful to them for sharing their work with us."
