NEW YORK, April 22 (UPI) -- British actor Ralph Fiennes says he would like to reprise the role of M in the next James Bond movie, but has no idea if Daniel Craig will once again play the iconic secret agent.

Fiennes has portrayed MI6 boss M in Skyfall and Spectre.

Asked during a roundtable interview with reporters in New York Thursday what his future is with the franchise, Fiennes replied, "I have no idea."

"I'm poised to do another Bond, if they want me, and I don't know who is going [to be Bond in the next film.] It may still be Daniel. No one knows. I don't know anything," he said. "I signed up for three, and I've done two, but I don't know what the variants of the contract are right now, except I think we're all waiting to see, 'Will Daniel do another, will he not?' And if he does, I have a feeling I will be M and if he doesn't, I'm waiting to hear where they'll take it. So, I literally don't know."

Craig has played Bond in four films, including the two with Fiennes, as well as the pair that preceded them -- Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace -- which featured Judi Dench as M. Craig has said he is unsure whether he wants to continue playing the character, however.
