WASHINGTON, April 21 (UPI) -- Matt Damon returns to the big screen as Jason Bourne in the newest full length trailer for the sequel of the same name.

Universal released the clip early Thursday, opening with Bourne knocking down a man with one punch during an amateur boxing match.

Directed by Paul Greengrass of The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, the film sees Damon's iconic character reenter the CIA's sights. The film takes place 12 years after Ultimatum.

"There's been the financial collapse, the great recession, all these issues of cyber warfare and civil liberties," Damon has said of Bourne's hiatus. "We find him in a dark and tortured place."

Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel, Tommy Lee Jones and Julia Stiles also star in Jason Bourne, out in theaters July 29. Riz Ahmed, Ato Essandoh and Scott Shepherd also appear in the new installment.

Earlier this week, Universal teased a series of four mini-trailers at five seconds each featuring the line "You Know His Name."
