'Blade Runner' sequel to be released earlier than scheduled

LOS ANGELES, April 20 (UPI) -- Alcon Entertainment has bumped up the release date of Blade Runner 2 from Jan. 12, 2018 to Oct. 6, 2017.

Variety reported the scheduling change Wednesday.

Harrison Ford is reprising his role of Detective Rick Deckard in the long-awaited follow-up to the 1982 sci-fi classic. It is being helmed by Denis Villeneuve and executive produced by Ridley Scott.

The cast will also include franchise newcomers Ryan Gosling, Dave Bautista and Robin Wright.

No plot details have been revealed yet.
