LOS ANGELES, April 14 (UPI) -- Robert Downey Jr. appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wednesday to promote his latest film, Captain America: Civil War and to share his excitement for Marvel and Sony's upcoming Spider-Man reboot.
"To me, Spider-Man was my whole deal," the actor explained to Kimmel about how the iconic web-slinger was his favorite superhero growing up.
"He was funny, he was cool, he was young like us," he continued. Downey then praised actor Tom Holland who is set to play Spider-Man and who first appears as the character as part of Team Iron Man in Civil War.
"Tom Holland, he's a British actor, you've seen him in other stuff before but he is fantastic," Downey said. "I like this Tom Holland guy, I like him, it's about the person, Jimmy," he continued, responding to Kimmel who joked about a British actor portraying Spider-Man.
After showing a rare photo of his17-month-old daughter adorably wearing Iron Man's metal hand, Downey was then joined by fellow castmates and members of Team Iron Man Don Cheadle (War Machine), Paul Bettany (Vision), and Emily VanCamp (Agent 13) of Team Captain America.
The group arrived with a new clip from the upcoming superhero epic which featured The Winter Solider (Sebastian Stan), fighting off Iron Man, Agent 13 and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), who was able to momentarily subdue the super solider.
Captain America: Civil War arrives in theaters May 6 while the recently titled Spider-Man: Homecoming arrives on July 7, 2017.
