Sony, Marvel announce 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' at CinemaCon

LAS VEGAS, April 13 (UPI) -- Sony and Marvel's upcoming Spider-Man flick will be titled Spider-Man: Homecoming, the entities announced at CinemaCon.

Actor Tom Holland, who will play the gifted masked vigilante, was in attendance at the big reveal to introduce himself as "your new Spider-Man," according to Variety.

The new saga, which Sony Pictures chair Tom Rothman said he hopes will consist of at least three standalone movies, will be directed by Jon Watts. Marisa Tomei will portray Peter Parker's Aunt May.

Holland's Spider-Man makes his debut in the Marvel universe in Captain America: Civil War, out May 6. Spider-Man: Homecoming will bow in theaters July 7, 2017.
