Japan's Toho releases trailer for 'Godzilla Resurgence'

LOS ANGELES, April 13 (UPI) -- The Japanese movie studio Toho released a trailer for its upcoming monster movie Godzilla Resurgence on Wednesday.

The 90-second clip shows the towering reptile terrorizing Tokyo.

Starring Hiroki Hasegawa, Satomi Ishihara and Yutaka Takenouchi, the film was directed by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi. It is set for release July 29.

This will be the studio's 29th Godzilla flick and its first since 2004's Godzilla: Final Wars.

The most recent entry in the franchise was the 2014 Legendary Pictures-Warner Bros. co-production Godzilla, which was helmed by Gareth Edwards and starred Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston.
