LOS ANGELES, April 11 (UPI) -- The iconic heroes in a half shell have a tough decision to make in the second trailer released for the upcoming sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

The clip released Monday by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies, features brothers in arms Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo and Leonardo discovering a new substance -- purple ooze -- which has the potential to transform the mutated ninjas into humans.

Earlier in the trailer, the same formula helped transform fan-favorite villains from the Turtles animated series, Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady (WWE Superstar Sheamus) into a pair of monstrous foes.

"If the purple ooze can turn humans into animals, it can turn us into humans," explains the team's scientist Donatello as he sprinkles some of the cure on his hand, watching it turn more human-like in the process.

"We're turtles, whether you like it or not," the leader Leonardo explains to a pleading Raphael who see's the benefit in turning human so that they can leave behind their life in the sewers and in the shadows.

As the Ninja Turtles decide whether or not to use the cure, they will be battling escaped martial arts master Shredder (Brian Tee) and the towering Krang along with their partners April O'Neil (Megan Fox), her bumbling cameraman Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett) and the hockey stick wielding vigilante, Casey Jones (Arrow's Stephen Amell).

Directed by Jonathan Liebesman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows opens in theaters June 3, 2016.
