'The Boss' tops the North American box office with $23.5M

LOS ANGELES, April 10 (UPI) -- Melissa McCarthy's latest big-screen comedy The Boss is the No. 1 movie in North America, earning $23.5 million in receipts this weekend, Rentrak announced Sunday.

The film knocked Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice out of its perch after two weeks at the top.

Batman came in at No. 2 this weekend with $23.4 million, followed by Zootopia at No. 3 with $14.3 million, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 at No. 4 with $6.4 million and Hardcore Henry at No. 5 with $5.1 million.

Rounding out the top tier are Miracles From Heaven at No. 6 with $4.8 million, God's Not Dead 2 at No. 7 with $4.3 million, The Divergent Series: Allegiant at No. 8 with $3.6 million, 10 Cloverfield Lane at No. 9 with $3 million and Eye in the Sky at No. 10 with $2.8 million.
