LOS ANGELES, March 23 (UPI) -- Lionsgate released Wednesday its first trailer for "Deepwater Horizon," a drama about the largest accidental marine oil spill in history.

The 2-minute, 15-second teaser features stars Mark Wahlberg, John Malkovich, Kate Hudson and Hudson's real-life step-father Kurt Russell.

The footage shows Wahlberg and Hudson as a couple sitting around the breakfast table while their 10-year-old daughter explains how ocean-rig operators drill for oil as part of her "My Dad's Job" school project. The scene is juxtaposed with images of men working on an actual rig when there is an explosion and oil begins gushing uncontrollably.

"On April 20, 2010, the world's largest man-made disaster occurred on the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico," a synopsis said. "Directed by Peter Berg, this story honors the brave men and women whose heroism would save many on board, and change everyone's lives forever."

The film -- which reunites Wahlberg with his Lone Survivor director -- is set for theatrical release Sept. 30.
